What is a Plumber?

A plumber is a skilled craftworker who installs and repairs pipe systems that
carry water, waste drainage, natural and medical gas in buildings. They join pipes and install fixtures like bathtubs, toilets, dishwashers
and water heaters. Often they design these systems or they may work from blueprints and drawings. They have the very important job
of helping to keep water safe for drinking and bathing.

How do I Prepare for the Trade?

o General math, algebra, geometry and trigonometry courses
o General science, chemistry and physics courses
o Drafting, blueprint reading and mechanical drawing courses
o Welding, metal and machine shop |
How do I Qualify?
| |
o 18 years of age
o Possess a high school diploma or GED (transcript required)
o Willingness to take drug/alcohol test |
What are the program specifics?

o Length of program - 5 years
o On-the-job work experience (probation, 1 year)
o A minimum of 960 hours classroom related training
o Starting pay - 45% journeyperson |
