What is a Sheet Metal Worker?
 

Sheet metal work is an extremely varied trade. Sheet metal workers build interior and exterior architectural work, food service kitchen systems, material handling systems, and air handling systems for heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems. Sheet metal workers also install and service mechanical equipment.

The sheet metal trade is one of the few modern trades in which the skilled individual takes the raw product, interprets the design drawing, develops the pattern, fabricates the items, installs them, and maintains that heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems.


How do I Prepare for the Trade?
 

o Good work ethics
o Good attendance
o Good reading ability
o Math skills - algebra, geometry and trigonometry
o Welding


How do I Qualify?
  o At least 18 years of age
o Possess a high school diploma or GED
o Have a valid drivers license
o Good physical condition
o Willingness to travel
o Willingness to take drug alcohol test

What are the program specifics?
  o Length of the program - 4 years
o Minimum of 198 hours of classroom related instruction    each year
o Starting pay - 45% of journeyperson wage
o Pension and health benefits provided
