High School Students Showcase Skills and Help Charity

Marquette, Mich. – High school construction technology students will be participating in the Upper Peninsula Construction Skills Challenge later this month, helping build storage sheds for Habitat For Humanity.

Eight teams of five students from across the U.P. will compete, and Habitat for Humanity will place the storage sheds at the homes they construct.

The competition takes place April 20, 2007 at Northern Michigan University’s Jacobetti Center. The top three teams will receive individual medals, and the top team will receive a plaque commemorating their achievement.

“This hands-on, team-building experience is good for area students and goes towards a worthwhile cause as well,” says Shawn Kolbus of the Gogebic-Ontonagon Intermediate School District.
